Painting the Cherokee Warrior

The Cherokee Warrior

The Cherokee had brave warriors. The Cherokee didn’t have armies, but bands of warriors who would strike fast then leave. One way the Cherokee would attack would be to fool their enemy. The Cherokee would trick their enemy by having their captives dress up as Cherokee. Their enemies would see this then start to surround the captives, who they thought were enemies. All the while it was actually the Cherokee warriors who where surrounding their enemies. While visiting Cherokee in North Carolina, I got to see some of the rich culture and traditions. If you ever get a chance check out Cherokee, NC and visit the live village, museum and the play, “Unto These Hills”. After being inspired I decided to paint this traditional Cherokee Warrior. This bold Cherokee is done on a textured background in watercolors. The picture show the creation the Cherokee Warrior painting. Hope you enjoy!
